Sophie Jouniaux Biography


 

Sophie specializes in international and French corporate tax matters, with a particular emphasis on M&A, reorganizations and international tax planning. She works primarily on tax matters related to reorganizations/restructuring and transactional tax (mergers and acquisitions, disposal of assets/businesses, tax aspects of LBOs), international taxation (tax aspects of inbound and outbound investments, permanent establishment issues, transfer pricing, contracts related to intellectual property and R&D activities), French taxation (commercial taxes and local taxes, tax consolidation, tax incentives) and assistance to tax audits.

She has also developed a specific expertise in the Lifesciences & Healthcare sector, advising companies of the pharmaceutical and medical devices industry.

Prior to joining Osborne Clarke in 2016, Sophie worked for 13 years in the tax team of Baker & McKenzie where she was made Partner in 2008. Before Baker & McKenzie, she worked for four years in the corporate tax department of Arthur Andersen.

Sophie was admitted to the Bar in 2001. She holds a postgraduate degree (DESS Droit des Affaires et Fiscalité, DJCE) from the University of Strasbourg.

Sophie has published several articles on international and French tax law and has participated in tax seminars as speaker. She has also taught French and International corporate tax law at the “Hautes Etudes Commerciales / HEC” Paris – a leading French business school – and the University of Montpellier I.

She is a member of the French Institute of Tax Solicitors (IACF).
